Memphis Fathers Love was born out of a burden placed in the heart of its Executive Director because of the staggering realities of fatherlessness in the greater Memphis area. Having grown up in Memphis as a fatherless youth he understood the devastating effects from the lack of a father’s presence in the lives of children; especially the boys. Boys need to learn manhood from a man so when one is not present and active in their lives they look to find that influence from somewhere. Unfortunately, all too often it is sought out by the closest thing to them even if that’s from negative sources. So from his personal life experience with fatherlessness as well as over 20 years as a teacher, coach and urban ministry leader he knew that it was time to do something more. Although Memphis Fathers Love was officially born in 2024, its initial conception was 2007. At that time Hassan had only been back in Memphis for a year and as a 7 year teacher/coach he noticed the alarming number of students and athletes who were from single mother homes. This brought back a lot of memories from his childhood with the absence of his father. A burden began to grow in him and he set out to address the issue. In 2007 he began researching and planning to open a daycare for children from fatherless homes. After many failures and setbacks; not to mention raising his 3 biological sons who were ages 6, 4 & 2 years old he made the decision to set it aside until the timing was right. Many years went by and he continued to raise his 3 sons along with his bride Tiffeny. He continued to grow in his knowledge and experience working with youth and entire families as a teacher/coach/Urban leader and pastor. In June 2024 God revealed to him that it was time. He had just launched his 3rd son off to college with now only one son left at home. Although he wasn’t his biological son, we had begun raising him as his own since he was 6 years old after his mother (his baby sister died suddenly). So Memphis Fathers Love (MFL) was reborn. This time around, he not only had a wealth of experience but also a wealth of relational capital and people investment to draw from. MFL is poised to combat the ills of fatherlessness in the greater Memphis area and beyond. With the Lord on our side and you on our team, MFL will be a force to be reckoned with!

At Memphis Fathers Love we desire to partner with single mothers by providing tangible support that prepares their children to navigate life in a way that propels them into positive outcomes.

Hassan Saleem is a native Memphian that grew up in the Westwood area with his 3 older brothers and 2 younger sisters. They were raised by their hard-working, godly, mother who worked 2 jobs to provide for her children. As one could imagine, times were
very challenging to say the least. While being tempted to succumb to the hopelessness and despair around him, Hassan would eventually fall in love with and excel in high school football and baseball which would lead him to collegiate athletics beginning in 1994. After stumbling through his first 4 years of college he would have a life changing encounter in 1998 with Christ and go on to graduate from Kentucky State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education 2001. He would later receive his Masters degree in Educational Leadership in 2006 serving as an educator and coach for 15 years with honors as a 5 Star Teacher, beginning in Frankfort, KY and lastly in Memphis City Schools. In 2015 Hassan would transition to pastoral ministry after the sudden death of his pastor and friend. He had the privilege of stepping into that role and serving 7 plus years as Campus Pastor at a local church in downtown Memphis. He also served as an Elder there for 11 plus years. His most recent role was with Kids Across America as a director where he oversaw a team of 50 plus summer staff. He has been happily married to his lovely wife Tiffeny for 24 years and they have four amazing sons, (Isaiah 23, Jadon 21, Josiah 19, Amari 16). Hassan is extremely passionate about the well being of his family. With the same passion he has for serving his family, church and city; He aims to bring the same enthusiasm and passion to the mission of Memphis Fathers Love as its founder and Executive Director. He is extremely passionate about investing in others and has a genuine love for pouring into the next generation. He’s dedicated his life to this kind of work. Hassan truly desires to see Memphis transformed from the inside out one kid and one family at a time. He has spent the last 20+ years
serving and leading marriage and family ministry as well as ministering to countless families in our community. He has also made a global impact through various international mission trips and relationships abroad. He, without question loves serving the least of these which is evident in his involvement with the local homeless shelters and prison ministry. Hassan considers giving his life to Christ his greatest accomplishment which has changed the trajectory of his life and has given him a
transcendent purpose and perspective of life since 1998.
